‘Powerball Winner’ Scams Facebook Users Into Sharing Photo For $1M

Call it a “social experiment” or “trolling” or whatever you like. Powerball “winner” Nolan Daniels posted the above photo to Facebook on Thursday night and got 500,000 people to share it.

“Looks like I won’t be going to work EVER!” he wrote, along with the photo. “Share this photo and I will give a random person 1 million dollars!”

Sorry to say it, but this is a confirmed scam. Both Mashable and Gawker pointed out the sketchy Photoshop job done on the ticket, with the latter noting that Powerball tickets are printed in numerical order. Of course, this is a red flag many of us wouldn’t have noticed on our own – not with the ridiculous promise of getting $1M from a complete stranger.

Seriously, internet. How could you fall for this? We’re supposed to be better than this, we’re supposed to …

… ALRIGHT! Yes, I fell for it myself. It’s $1M and .0001 seconds of effort to share something on Facebook. SUE ME!

Did you fall for the Powerball “winner” Facebook scam?
