Pornhub Has Been Hacked: Millions Of Users Information May Be Compromised

Well, the good news, pretty much everyone watches porn. The bad news? If you watched porn on Porn Hub in the last year, there is a really good chance you will have gotten a virus (not an STD, thankfully) that has infected your computer and been pretty much tracing your every move.

Pornhub was hacked and the malware has been infecting many computers without people’s knowledge. The site took care of it, but they never addressed the problem to the users, who have no idea their systems may be compromised by a virus they could’ve gotten from visiting the site.

Ironic, I know.

Sources say the hack was addressed immediately but has ‘ran quietly’ in the background of the site for about a year, potentially going so far as the virus in mention taking over people’s computers without them knowing.

From the source:

The hack worked by showing an advert on the Pornhub page that appeared to be a browser or operating system update. That would trick a user into clicking on it and installing the software.

But once it was installed, that software would actually take over a users’ computer and use it to click on fake ads, putting its owners’ safety in danger to generate money. That’s according to Proofpoint, the security firm that discovered the malicious software.

It’s the kind of thing that makes you think twice about checking sites like that, though who are we kidding?

They get hits in the high millions daily. This won’t change anything.
