Pinterest ‘Gifts’ Feed Makes Platform Shopping A Breeze

Pinterest users looking to shop via the visual social platform can now do so with the company’s Gifts Feed.

The feed grabs Pinterest pins that feature product information and pricing, making it easy to see which items are available for purchase.

The Gifts Feed which debuted last week is populated 100% by Pinterest Products Pins, a business product that debuted in 2013.

Products Pins show users information about a product, including a merchant’s name, its price, and stock level information.

If a Pinterest user pins or repins an item they are also alerted when there is a drop in price.

Following the release of Pinterest product pins the social network announced higher than expected click-through rates.

Included inside the Gifts Feed is a price filter which provides for a range of items within a users budget.

I clicked on the $$$$ option and found some items worth hundreds, even thousands of dollars. While the $ option features small children’s dolls, cute socks, and various other low cost items. Pinterest might speak highly of its CTR but it is also a great location for “window shopping” without having to leave the house.

Because pinning serves as a bookmarking system in its own right, the Gifts feed is also a great way to create a list of items you want for your next interior decorating job.

Simply create a board for your projects and pin your items to that board. You can have a “nursery” board and a “living room” collection separated for their own needs.

Pin items from Pinterest Gifts and as their prices drop you can pick up items at a discount. The program is still in beta testing which means more features could be on the horizon.
