If you’ve discovered that Facebook has become a massive time-suck, completely destroying your focus and productivity, you should probably give the Pavlov Poke a try.
A video put together by MIT PhD students Robert Morris and Dan McDuff shows off their ingenious idea to shock you every time you switch tabs to Facebook from whatever you were doing that was more productive before.
It’s all based on Ivan Pavlov’s experiments, which you probably encountered at some point during your educational career. He’s the guy who rang the dinner bell and served his dogs food, and then after a while, just rang the dinner bell. Eureka! The dog’s are salivating.
Pavolv Poke works the same way, but with “negative reinforcement.” It shocks you when you’ve spent way too much time on a time-wasting website, ensuring that you’ll be a good little student who will grow into a good little taxpayer someday. Check it out up top!
