Michelle, Sasha, and Malia Obama welcomed the official White House Christmas Tree on Friday morning. The tree arrived in front of the White House’s North Portico on a carriage drawn by two Clydesdale horses.

The first lady was also accompanied by the family’s two dogs, Bo and Sunny, who watched on as the 18-and-a-half foot Douglas fir was removed from the carriage. The tree comes from Crystal Springs Tree Farm in Leighton, Pennsylvania and will be on display in the Blue Room of the White House until the holidays are over.
Michelle Obama commented on Friday during a brief ceremony to accept the tree, “We’re honored to have it.” The National Christmas Tree Association is responsible for transporting the massive tree and presenting it to the White House each year. It has been providing the holiday decoration since 1966.
While the almost 19-foot tree is certainly impressive, it pales in comparison to the massive Engelmann spruce put up in front of the Capitol on Monday morning.

The 88-foot tree comes from a forest in Washington State and is the second-tallest Capitol Christmas Tree in history. Workers used a crane to place the tree on the front lawn, where it will be decorated with over 5,000 handmade ornaments from children across the country. This year’s theme is “Sharing Washington’s Good Nature.”
