Nina Dobrev is a Canadian actress (born January 9, 1989). Her film and television credits include, but are not limited to, roles in Degrassi: The Next Generation, The Vampire Diaries, The Final Girls, Let’s Be Cops, and Love Hard.

She is best known for her role as Elena Gilbert on the CW television series The Vampire Diaries. Dobrev has also appeared in several films, including the 2012 film The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, Dobrev and her family immigrated to Canada when she was two years old. She grew up in Toronto and began her acting career in 2006. Dobrev has won several awards for her work on The Vampire Diaries, including the Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Actress.
Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts in Scarborough, Toronto, was Dobrev’s high school and college. As Mia Jones in Degrassi: The Next Generation, her first starring role, she began her acting career in 2006. Fugitive Pieces was another film in which Dobrev had a minor role.
Dobrev quit The Vampire Diaries in 2015 after six seasons on the show. She has since appeared in a number of films, including xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, released in 2016. The upcoming film Flatliners will also have Dobrev in the lead role.
