New ‘Twin Peaks’ Episodes To Air On Showtime In 2016

Yep, it’s true. David Lynch is bringing Twin Peaks back to television.

The award winning director caused Twitter mayhem last week when he sent out a cryptic tweet about some “damn good coffee.”

It’s been a little while since Twin Peaks has been on the air so don’t feel bad if you don’t get the joke. Lynch was referencing special agent Dale Cooper who loved himself a “damn fine cup of coffee.” Fans of the show picked up on the reference and soon the rumor mill was in full swing.

Well, it’s official. Showtime announced today that it was working with creators David Lynch and Mark Frost to bring back Twin Peaks for 2015.

Lynch and Frost said in a statement: “The mysterious and special world of ‘Twin Peaks’ is pulling us back. We’re very excited. May the forest be with you.”

According to Hit Flix, Twin Peaks will return for nine episodes. Lynch and Frost will write all nine episodes together while Lynch will also take on directing duties. Production should start soon with the aim to release the new season in 2016, 25 years after the show ended it’s run after two seasons.
