Netflix And YouTube Still Internet Traffic Hogs, Reveals New Report

Netflix

Netflix and YouTube are two of the biggest video platforms on the planet, so it’s no surprise both hold the top two spots in North American Internet traffic.

According to the Global Internet Phenomena Report, as of September 2013, 31.6 percent of Internet traffic in North America is through Netflix.

YouTube accounted for 18.7 percent of Internet traffic, up from 14.8 percent one year prior.

Here are some honorable mentions:

  • BitTorrent – 4.05 percent
  • iTunes – 3.27 percent
  • Amazon Video – 1.61 percent
  • Facebook – 1.31 percent
  • Hulu – 1.29 percent

While Netflix is still number one, its Internet traffic in North America is down 1.4 percent from last year.

Last week, YouTube began rolling out its new commenting system powered by Google+ on individual videos.

Netflix is continuing to create original shows, and Orange Is The New Black recently became the most watched show in its history.
