Mysterious Creepy Clown Stalks Northampton, Becomes Social Sensation

IT

Some prick dressed like Pennywise from It has been spotted all around Northampton this weekend, standing outside of windows and acting hella creepy.

Local media reports that the creepy clown made his/it’s debut on Friday the 13th (just a few days ago) and has popped up in several locations, sparking a police warning. The M.O. is simple: The “Northampton Clown,” dressed like Pennywise and holding a bundle of balloons, stands outside of people’s windows like a total psycho.

“He doesn’t juggle. He doesn’t twist balloons into animal shapes. He just stares,” noted the Northampton Herald and Post.

Some folks have been left incredibly distraught by the Northampton Clown, while others see it as a prank. Either way, citizen journalism has taken over, with many sightings being documented on Twitter under the trending hashtag #northamptonclown.

As if the Northampton Clown isn’t enough to deal with, now there’s a flood of vigilantes to contend with, as well.

But what’s a cozy English ‘burb to do when the police are powerless?

The Northampton Clown has also inspired a Facebook page titled “Spot Northampton’s Clown” which has nearly 35,000 “likes” as of this posting. The page was possibly created by the Clown himself, as posts are written from his perspective.

Unfortunately, there’s not much that can be done to confirm whether the Northampton Clown actually operates this page, but if it is him, the goal seems to just be mischief.

Northampton News also posted this video, which possibly shows the Northampton Clown’s true identity. The clip is a few months old. We’d rule it circumstantial at best, but decide for yourself.
