Muhammad Ali: The Most Photogenic Athlete In History

muhammad ali

Muhammad Ali passed away last night and the world has lost an incredible athlete and human being. Tebow might have worn bible verses under his eyes but Ali was the embodiment of a man committed to his religion and dedicated to his sport. He lost his belt when he refused to fight in Vietnam, he negotiated with Saddam Hussein for the release of 15 U.S. hostages and he was the first athlete to declare he was the greatest. But unlike the rappers and basketball players on television today, Muhammad Ali actually proved his words.

Ali was fighting when boxing was the sport of kings and was covered by every major newspaper and magazine in the country. When we look back on his life, we’re reminded of the dozens of photographs of the champ that capture the rawness of his personality and the height of his success.

This photo was even more extraordinary when it first came out as it is today.

Here’s a rare image that shows the humility of Ali, a quality he wasn’t exactly known for.

This photo of Ali over Sonny Liston is world-famous

Ali was recuperating when this picture was captured.

Ali and Pele were probably two the greatest athletes in history.
