James Felton, comedy writer, started a joke about loving ‘milk coke’ – however, he wasn’t kidding! “Milk coke is a real thing,” he stated.

“Brummies [people from Birmingham, England] love it. We can all move on from this discussion now, I will be taking no further questions.” Felton included even a smiling picture of himself gulping the tan drink as proof that the whole notion of milk coke wasn’t some sort of harsh prank.

Following, milk coke went viral online, with users from around the globe choosing sides. “It’s just like an ice cream float,” some contested. “It’s not the same at all, and how dare you,” others retorted. In spite of the backlash, the untypical combination has made a plethora of new fanatics thanks to its solid free hype this week.

In case you’re intrigued, lifelong coke milk drinkers suggest that ⅓ milk and ⅔ coke is the sweet spot for this engrossing recipe. “You have to pour the milk in first otherwise it’ll curdle,” Felton explained.

“You’ve got about 10 minutes to drink it once you’ve made it, before it separates. And trust me, you do not want to drink a separated milk coke.”

The beverage is evidently known by various other names around the world, ranging as “Brown Milk” in regions of South Africa. Though Felton too warns the public his concoction is not for everyone.

“I’ve been drinking it since I was a child and had the metabolism to cope with the calories involved,” he added.
