Microsoft Invests $15 Million In Foursquare, Will License Its Data

Foursquare

Microsoft was reportedly interested in Foursquare back in August 2013, and today announced a $15 million investment.

The tech giant has also signed a multi-year agreement to license Foursquare’s data for use in products such as Bing and Windows.

It’s currently unknown how much the licensing agreement is worth, but Microsoft will get access to data on over 60 million places.

According to Foursquare CEO Dennis Crowley, its deal with Microsoft does not affect similar licensing agreements with other companies.

Back in December, Foursquare raised $35 million in new funding, and in October launched ads to all small businesses.
