Real Housewives of New Jersey star Melissa Gorga is not happy with book critics. Gorga claims that her book Love Italian Style: The Secrets of My Hot and Happy Marriage, does not promote sexism, misogyny, and marital rape.
Gorga took to Twitter on Friday to share her disgust with more than 700,000 fans.
I’m so disgusted that a reporter has taken things completely out of context simply for shock value. #SAD

Gorga was referring to Jezebel blogger Tracie Egan Morrissey. In her review of the book Morrissey says it promotes misogynistic views and offers nothing but double standards
We can see where Morrisey would see problems with the book. In one section Melissa Gorga writes:
“Men, I know you think your woman isn’t the type who wants to be taken. But trust me, she is. Every girl wants to get her hair pulled once in a while. If your wife says ‘no,’ turn her around, and rip her clothes off. She wants to be dominated.”
Morrisey says of the passage:
“That is rape and it is insane that it got past the publisher.”
Furthering her Twitter damage control the reality TV star writes:
If you’ve read my book, you know that I am promoting mutual love, respect, honesty, and loyalty. #TRUTH

I haven’t read the book (hint: I won’t), but if the book follows the same line of thinking as the paragraph above I can see why Morrissey went on the offensive.
