Marina Shifrin Quits, Internet Explodes With Applause [Video]

There are two people who really know how to quit in this world: George Costanza and Marina Shifrin.

Shifrin, an under-appreciated writer at Next Mexia Animation, quit this week in the best way possible: With a viral video. The 25-year-old’s “An Interpretive Dance For My Boss Set To Kanye West’s Gone” has more than 500,000 views already. But more importantly, it freed Shifrin from the suffocating confines of her job.

Shifrin is a talented writer (check out her website) but quality content is no longer king on the internet. The 24/7 news cycle demands a constant stream of articles. It doesn’t really mater what they say as long as they bring in the traffic.

Which reminds me, it’s time for some keyword stuffing: Viral Video. LOL. Dance Quit Video. Miley Cyrus.

Shifrin, 25, writes on Youtube: “I work for an awesome company that makes news videos. I have put my entire life into this job, but my boss only cares about quantity, how fast we write and how many views each video gets. I believe it’s more important to focus on the quality of the content. When you learn to improve this, the views will come.”

Marina V. Shifrin won over the internet this week and she’s certainly won over the staff at SND. When you get into town, Marina, please look us up. We’d like to give you a job, crush your creative spirits for another two years, and then watch another fantastic video of you dancing.
