Facebook is losing its first ad sales star, a veteran of the company for over six years.
Kevin Colleran isn’t leaving Facebook for a competitor, according to AllThingsD. He said he plans to stick around the industry, specifically in “advisory roles at Causes, My Basis and Buddy Media.” He also plans to do some investing and consulting in the space, as well as non-profit work.
Colleran had this to say:
“My journey at Facebook has been incredible and I am very grateful for Mark, Sheryl [Sandberg], and the rest of the team for giving me such an amazing opportunity,” Colleran said in an email. “I take a lot of pride in having been Facebook’s most tenured employee (after Mark) as well as the first member of Facebook’s advertising sales team.”
Facebook added:
“Kevin played an instrumental role in building Facebook’s advertising business from the ground up. We’re sad to see him go and wish him all the best.”
Colleran’s first big coup at the fledgling social network was a $60K a month deal with Party Poker.
