LinkedIn is known as the social network when it comes to finding a job or networking with other business-oriented people, and did a study researching people’s “dream jobs.” The study surveyed more than 8,000 professionals around the world and saw all sorts of different responses.
Top countries who provided a response were the United States, Canada, Sweden, Germany, Brazil, France, Austria, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand.
For the sake of the infographic though, LinkedIn just listed the top dream jobs for men and women in the United States.
Top 5 dream jobs for men in the US:
- Professional or Olympic athlete
- Airplane or Helicopter Pilot
- Scientist
- Lawyer
- Astronaut
Top 5 dream jobs for women in the US:
- Teacher
- Veterinarian
- Writer, Journalist or Novelist
- Doctor, Nurse or EMT
- Singer
It seems that dream jobs as a kid tend to stick with people even when they get older. There were also some other interesting facts as far as current occupations for those in the US:
- Over 500,000 Fashion Stylists
- Over 30,000 Wine or Beer Specialists
- Over 400,000 Firefighters
- 14 Mermaids
- Over 150 Astronauts
- Over 30 Racecar Drivers
Unfortunately, LinkedIn wasn’t able to verify the whole “Mermaids” thing so we’ll just take those with a grain of salt for now. Everyone has a dream job and we’d love to hear about yours in the comments below.
