LinkedIn recently revealed the top dream jobs, and just released their yearly findings on the top overused buzzwords. The social network examined the top 10 overused buzzwords in the US and also compiled the top overused buzzwords in profiles around the world, analyzing more than 187 million profiles.
Here are the top 10 overused buzzwords for the US:
- Creative
- Organizational
- Effective
- Motivated
- Extensive Experience
- Track Record
- Innovative
- Responsible
- Analytical
- Problem Solving
When it came to buzzwords in LinkedIn profiles outside of the US, there was no shortage.
- Sweden, Germany, Netherlands, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia: Creative.
- Saudi Arabia, UAE, South Africa and Malaysia: Motivated.
- Italy and France: Responsible.
- Egypt and Indonesia: Multinational.
- Brazil: Experimental.
- India: Effective.
- Switzerland: Analytical.
The top buzzword worldwide is “creative” which makes it number one for two years in a row. “Motivated” now ranks higher than “extensive experience” which was the number one buzzword on LinkedIn profiles in 2010.
If you have any of the above buzzwords in your profile, maybe it’s time to take a second look and update. LinkedIn added over 50 million users in 2012 and its stock price is currently holding around $105 per share.
