Should LeBron James wear 6 or 23 next year for the Cleveland Cavaliers?
James posted the question on his Instagram account today. James wore Number 23 during his time with the Cavaliers but switched to the number 6 when he moved to Miami? Why? Well, apparently James decided that he wasn’t worth of the number 23 since he had no titles in 2010.
At the time, James said that the NBA should retire the number 23 in honor of Michael Jordan.
James said: “I just think what Michael Jordan has done for the game has to be recognized some way soon … There would be no LeBron James, no Kobe Bryant, no Dwyane Wade if there wasn’t Michael Jordan first. I feel like no NBA player should wear 23.”
Well, it looks like LeBron James has changed his mind.
USA Today notes that this could come down to a marketing decision. Cavs fans already have LeBron James jerseys with the no. 23 on them (at least those who didn’t burn them) so keeping No. 6 will increase jersey sales.
That probably isn’t LeBron James’ goal, though. If LeBron wants to erase the “Decision” from the minds of Cleveland fans he should probably go back to 23 and pretend that the last 4 years didn’t happen.
