Kenan Thompson may be leaving Saturday Night Live after this season. But then again he may not.
A report circulated today that Thompson was leaving the show after this season but a spokesman for SNL said that the report was “inaccurate.”
The rep said that “the season hasn’t even started and cast decisions aren’t made until the end of the season.”
TMZ reported earlier today that Thompson was planning on leaving the show after last season but Lorne Michaels convinced him to stay for one more year. Michaels reportedly convinced Thompson by telling him that he needed a veteran (Kenan Thompson joined SNL in 2003) to help out with his relatively new cast.
Thompson agreed but, according to TMZ, he’ll be leaving the show after this season.
Lorne Michaels hasn’t commented on Kenan Thompson’s future with SNL yet and he probably won’t say anything until the end of this season.
Saturday Night Live hasn’t confirmed the report about Kenan Thompson but it definitely is plausible. He’s been on the show for more than a decade, Lorne Michaels has been making some major cast changes, and Thompson has reportedly been in talks for his own TV show.
Do you think Kenan Thompson will still be a cast member next season?
