Katy Perry Makes Huge Announcement On Twitter, Signs Her First Artist

Katy Perry is doing a lot more than singing now, just today she revealed her major new project, which she took to Twitter to do so.

Metamorphosis is a joint venture record label with Capitol Records, the company she is currently under. Her first move with the new label was signing Ferras, an up and coming pop singer who released his debut album ‘Aliens & Rainbows’ in 2008.

Ferras was born in Illinois in 1982 and moved back and fourth between states before ultimately settling in California after his parents divorced.

He was first discovered by Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst who wanted to sign him, but was rejected as Ferras went on to enroll in classes at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. While there he auditioned for Capitol Records which led to his first recording deal.

Ferras also broke the news via Instagram, saying “The secret is out! I’ve signed to my dear friend @katyperry’s new record label Metamorphosis Music. Today is the day that my EP is finally out and I’m so happy I now get to share it. Let me know what u think!!! Also, catch me opening up for Katy on #ThePrismaticWorldTour starting June 22!
