Kanye West Tells Beck He Needs To Respect Artistry [Twitter Responds]

Kanye West was responsible for one of the most memorable moments from last night’s Grammy Awards. While Beck stepped to the microphone to receive the award for best album, Yeezuz jumped on stage to intercept it.

Well, almost.

While the crowd expected Kanye West to pull another “Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time” moments, the rapper shrugged his shoulders and walked off the stage without any dramatics. It was funny. For a moment, it seemed like Kanye West was making fun of himself.

And then he gave an interview after the awards and explained what he meant by the stunt. Apparently Beck is not a real artist and the Grammys are a sham.

Kanye said: “The Grammys, if they want real artists to come back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain’t gonna play with them no more. ‘Flawless,’ Beyoncé video, and Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyoncé.”

Beck isn’t a real artist? Has Kanye heard Odelay?

As for Beck, the artist shrugged off Kanye’s comments, saying that you “can’t please everyone.”

“I was so excited he [West] was coming up! He deserves to be on that stage … Absolutely I thought (Beyonce) was going to win… You can’t please everybody. I still love him and think he’s genius. I aspire to what he does. How many great records has he put out in the last five years, right?”

Beck’s album Morning Phase won two Grammy Awards last night (Best Rock Album and Album Of The Year).
