Jan Hooks passed away this week in New York City at the age of 57.
The cause of death is currently unknown.
Hooks had roles on shows like The Simpsons, 3rd Rock From The Sun, and Designing Women, but she is probably best known as a Saturday Night Live cast member. Hooks played dozens of characters on the show, including Sinead O’Connor, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Reagan.
Here’s a video of Jan Hooks singing about evolution to a monkey.
Several of Hooks’ former castmates have taken to Twitter to mourn the loss of their friend.
Kevin Nealon told People Magazine:
“I was friends with her for a long time, and then we started dating for a while, and then we were on SNL together. I think the whole experience of going to New York to be on a show like SNL, I think about that a lot … She was totally amazing as a sketch player. She so immersed herself in her characters, and her timing was amazing. She got it from some crazy stratosphere, and I was so attracted to that talent in her, and I don’t think she ever knew how well respected and admired she was for her talent.”
My girlfriend in the 80’s and my friend forever, Janners. God, were you talented. Too soon and too sad. #JanHooks pic.twitter.com/l2wGR9HJ0x
