Instaradio For Android Is SoundCloud Meets Live Streaming

Instaradio

Instaradio first launched on iOS back in July 2013, and today rolled out its Android app.

Best defined as a mix between SoundCloud and live streaming, users can create live audio broadcasts, and share them to Twitter and Facebook.

Similar to Twitter, users have up to 140 characters to describe their broadcast, and can add tags that helps other users to find their chat via search.

Once a broadcast is over, it’s saved, and people following you or skimming through the stream can see how long it as, as well as comment and “love.”

Instaradio founder Kevin Kliman says the app has also gained traction with people in the Middle East during political uprisings.

However, the app still hasn’t found its target audience, which Kliman explains:

“Comedians can be shy about putting their sets online, but like doing short funny blurbs. Conferences are a simple pitch and accessible to us, [since] all they have to do is plug a mobile device into the soundboard and press two buttons to create another media channel that can be monetized. Tech events are especially good because attendees tend to be more creative with how they use technology.”

According to TechCrunch, Instaradio hopes to raise another $500,000 in funding this Spring.
