According to reports, Facebook has been working on an unannounced marketing tool called ‘Business Manager’ that lets teams manage multiple ad campaigns and pages in one interface.
Business Manager could end up competing directly with Facebook’s Preferred Marketing Developers who are currently the ones left to the task of serving the advertisers, enterprises, agencies, and teams who run ad campaigns and pages.
A tipster leaked the information, which was later confirmed by Facebook. The management product went into ‘focus release’ with a small group of clients about a week ago. It will be optimized and adjusted before it launches to the public. Facebook has not said when the product will be officially announced or release.
One of the problems Business Manager could solve is preventing people from being confused about mixing up their personal and professional presences on Facebook.
For now, many companies create fake accounts which are shared amongst their team to prevent that from happening. However, this is against Facebook’s terms of service and also is a potential security threat for those companies since the responsibility of actions cannot be tied to one person.
The simplicity Business Manager will bring to advertisers and business page owners could be enough for some clients to switch to their free native ad management tools. Startups who work on third-party Facebook marketing and management software will have to innovate to stay alive.
