A homeless man abruptly pulled a woman out of her out of a vehicle dragged her in the middle of the street, and splashed a bucket of diarrhea on her head.
Heidi Van Tassel was in Hollywood parked after enjoying a cheerful evening out with pals at an authentic Thai restaurant, when her life suddenly did a 180° flip. “It was diarrhea. Hot liquid. I was soaked, and it was coming off my eyelashes and into my eyes,” said Van Tassel. “Paramedics who came to treat me said there was so much of it on me, that it looked like the man was saving it up for a month.”

Van Tassel was hurried to Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital after the appalling attack, where they tested her for infectious diseases caused by contact with the stool. Every three months, she’ll require to be retested. “It was all inside my car because it was so much. He just kept pouring it and splattering it all over me,” she explained. She stated the Los Angeles Police Department informed her they’d investigate the matter, however her telephone calls to the department went unrequited.
“It’s so traumatic. The PTSD that I’m dealing with is beyond anything that I’ve ever felt,” said Van Tassel. “There needs to be some kind of help for the victims of these crimes.” The man who ambushed her, identified as Jere Blessings in court records, was charged with battery and hauled to jail. Blessings was termed as a “transient with schizophrenia and psychotic disorders,” records display.
“He doesn’t need jail time. He needs mental health care. I have empathy for him. Because he needs help,” Van Tassel said through tears. “It was awful. And it changed my life. I will never, ever, forget his face. What’s the next thing he’s going to do somebody? If he would’ve had a knife, for sure he would’ve stabbed me.”
