Police found the victim, reportedly Oden’s ex-girlfriend, crying on the bed when they arrived.
A witness said: “He punched her in the face.”
The victim was reportedly uncooperative but the witness urged her to speak, saying: “There isn’t that much love in the world. You need to tell that he punched you in the face.”

Oden, who faces a preliminary charge of battery, was reportedly calm and apologetic after police arrived. The former NBA star said: “I was wrong, and I know what has to happen.”
This is the at least the second time this month that a professional athlete has been in the news for domestic violence. Ray Rice was recently given a two game suspension by the NFL after he knocked his wife unconscious in an elevator.
