The government shutdown has generated a lot of talk, and according to new data from Facebook, there have been over 45 million mentions this week.

All mentions were measured across over 17 million Facebook users, and here were the top five related terms:

  • Shutdown or shut down
  • Congress
  • GOP
  • Obamacare

Younger users were found to be less interactive with ages 35 to 64 leading discussion on the social network.

According to Facebook, here were the top 10 states talking about the government shutdown:

  • Washington, D.C.
  • Virginia
  • Maryland
  • West Virginia
  • Alaska
  • Arkansas
  • Alabama
  • New Mexico
  • Oklahoma
  • Wyoming

While millions of Facebook users are talking about the shutdown, government agencies have went silent.
