George Takei’s Response To Facebook Ghostwriting Controversy: Who Cares

George Takei Doesnt Write His Facebook posts

George Takei doesn’t write all of his own Facebook and Twitter posts and the actor is unapologetic towards that fact.

This week journalist Rick Polito revealed that Takei has been paying him $10 per joke. Those jokes are placed on Takei’s always hilarious Facebook fan page.

The move has angered some Star Trek fans but let’s be honest we all know that actors oftentimes use interns and staff writers to help liven up their social media accounts and overall public persona.

After outing Takei in a whole new way Polito apologized for the big reveal. According to the journalist:

“I wrote an apology to George and Brad and their guy said he’d pass it on. I just said that I’d been looking for any mention of my book I could get and that I hadn’t meant to expose anything. I don’t update his page. I’ve had no direct contact with George. I’ve sent him some memes, as have other comedian types and I was happy for the exposure.”

After the news was broken about George Takei’s use of a ghostwriter the beloved Star Trek actor told Wired:

“What is this hoo-ha about my FB posts? I have Brad, my husband, to help me and interns to assist. What is important is the reliability of my posts being there to greet my fans with a smile or a giggle every morning. That’s how we keep on growing.”

Are you upset that George Takei doesn’t write his own endless stream of daily Facebook and Twitter funnies?

We still love you Takei and we’ll keep waiting for your next funny posts to appear on your Facebook fan page.

  1. Really, what does it matter! I agree that it's not a big deal and whoever doesn't like it should grow up. If they thought that he, or any other celebrity, writes EVERYTHING that are posted on their sites they are dumb.

  2. Silly to think that he ever came up with it all. As if he had nothing else to do than sit and think up things to post on Facebook? I would be worried about any celebrity who spent that much time on FB, of course they have ghostwriters.
