Some of the greatest musicians of all-time passed away at a young age. The “27 Club” includes members like Jimi Hendrix, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Robert Johnson, Jim Morrison, and of course, Kurt Cobain. But Frances Bean Cobain insists that this is not a club that any musician (we’re talking to you Lana Del Rey) should aspire to join.
Del Rey caused some controversy last week when she told The Guardian: “I wish I was dead already.”
Del Rey made the comment after a discussion about her idols, Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse, and how both of them died at a very young age. Lana Del Rey has distanced herself from the comments but that doesn’t mean that the conversation is over.
This weekend Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of Kurt Cobain, tried to give Lana some friendly advice.
Cobain wrote on Twitter: “The death of young musicians isn’t something to romanticise. I’ll never know my father because he died young and it becomes a desirable feat because people like you think it’s ‘cool’. Well, it’s fucking not. Embrace life, because you only get one life.”
The tweet was deleted after Cobain was accused of “attacking” Lana Del Rey. Cobain replaced the tweet with a new message, saying that she has no animosity toward the singer.
I’m not attacking anyone. I have no animosity towards Lana, I was just trying to put things in perspective from personal experience.
