Former Titans Kicker Rob Bironas Mourned On Twitter

Rob Bironas was killed last night in a car crash in Nashville, Tennessee. He was 36.

Metro Police report that the former Tennessee Titans kicker was involved in a single-vehicle crash at around 11 pm last night. Bironas lost control of his SUV, went off the road and crashed into a tree.

Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron said that Bironas was driving at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash but it does not appear that alcohol was involved.

Biranos was the Tennessee Titans kicker for nine seasons. He was released in March.

The team said in a statement:

“Rob made a significant impact as a player in his nine years with the team and more importantly touched many lives in the Nashville community off the field … Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Rachel, and his family during this very difficult time.”

Rob Bironas was one of the greatest kickers in Houston Oilers / Tennessee Titans history. He had 1,032 career points (28 behind leader Al Del Greco) and hit 85.7% of his field goal attempts (fourth highest accuracy in NFL history). He also hit a 60 yard field goal against the Indianapolis Colts in 2006 which is the longest field goal in Titans history.

Rob Bironas was married to Rachel Bradshaw, the daughter of Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw, earlier this summer.
