Henry Winkler, AKA “The Fonz” and Arrested Development‘s inept family lawyer Barry Zuckerkorn, spotted early reports of the Washington DC Navy Yard shooting massacre and decided he’d just about had it with guns.
Within moments of the shooting’s first reports, Winkler tweeted:
Whether you agree or disagree with his views, Winkler’s 140-character tirade backfired on him in an epic, Jim Carrey kind of way. Most of Fonz’s critics lambasted him for his ignorance of the situation.
@hwinkler4real complete gun control zone. only criminals have guns

@hwinkler4real seriously. Un-follow. GUNS ARE NOT THE PROBLEM, PEOPLE ARE THE PROBLEM, just look at Chicago, criminals don’t follow the law — Gregory Sloan (@GSloanDH11) September 16, 2013
@hwinkler4real What an ignorant remark.. — Clay Layton (@CMLayton) September 16, 2013
@hwinkler4real You are a great actor. But you should not be remarking about our constitutional rights.

@hwinkler4real Not sure how gun control would stop something happening on a military base where there are tons of legal guns.

Fonz did have his defenders, and he managed to remain a perfect gentleman in the Twitter war that followed his unfortunate comment. Still, Henry Winkler’s Washington DC Navy Yard shooting massacre tweet has shown once again that, for better or worse, Twitter doesn’t like celebrities talkin’ ’bout their guns.
