‘FarmVille’ Animated Series Could Be Headed To The Small Screen

Brett Ratner

Zynga’s popular social game FarmVille could be headed to the small screen in the near future.

Brett Ratner, the director responsible for such films as Rush Hour, Red Dragon, and The Tower Heist, will produce the televised version of the farming simulation. The filmmaker is reportedly working alongside Canadian production company Six Eleven Media to bring the animated series to fruition.

“FarmVille is one of the most exciting brands out there today and its cross-platform opportunities are endless. I am thrilled to be expanding the brand with existing fans and also engaging a whole new audience,” Ratner said in a recent statement.

Deadline is reporting that the cartoon version of the social game has yet to find a network to call home. Given the title’s continued popularity on Facebook, chances are someone out there is willing to cash in on the FarmVille’s success.

Zynga isn’t the only casual game developer looking to branch out. PC Magazine explains that Rovio is currently in the process of putting together an animated Angry Bird movie. The film is presently slated to arrive in theaters in 2016.

It’s anybody’s guess when the world will get to experience the FarmVille cartoon. A release date has not been set as of this writing.
