Facebook has no shortage of status updates and a post from a teen in Astoria, Oregon has landed him in jail after posting that he was drunk driving which lead to a collision with two vehicles.
18-year-old Jacob Cox-Brown was behind the wheel on New Year’s Eve and posted the following message on hiss news feed:
“Drivin drunk… classsic 😉 but to whoever’s vehicle i hit i am sorry. :P.”
Around 1 AM on New Year’s Day police saw evidence of two cars being hit. Two people tipped off police officers that Jacob could be responsible for the damage after seeing his Facebook post. Officers analyzed the damage on Jacob’s car and the victim’s cars which ended up being a match.
Jacob was charged with two counts of failing to perform the duties of a driver. However, he was not charged with drunken driving as a Facebook post was not enough sufficient evidence to charge him with that particular crime.
