Facebook teased a new Messenger app on Android recently, making it available to only a small group of users, and now it’s rolling out to everyone.
Android users who have the app installed should receive an update if they haven’t already, and iOS users will also find it in the App Store.
Inspired by Skype and Google Hangouts, Facebook Messenger features a completely new design that’s very pleasing to the eyes.
Not to be outdone by Google who recently added SMS support to Hangouts, Facebook users can now text others directly from Messenger.
Some other new features worth mentioning:
-If a friend is also using Facebook Messenger, a blue icon will appear in the bottom right corner of their profile photo.
-You can swipe from the left or right to view recent conversations, list of friends and access settings.
As before, you can still send files or images via Facebook Messenger, and there’s also a large collection of fun stickers/emoticons to choose from.
