One of the reasons Snapchat is so popular is because users have unprecedented control over who they share their photos with and who can see them. Facebook is looking to capitalize on that in their latest update for its iOS app.
Facebook launched the update today for iOS 8.0 which offers users an easy way to share photos only with friends. The option allows users to select individual friends their photos will appear for in the News Feed.
The ‘friend selector’ works just like the one in Snapchat and looks like it as well. Now users will see the audience of their posts at the top of their status update or photo before they publish.
Most people have the option set to ‘friends’, but tapping on it will reveal a selector that allows you to choose from customized friend lists or certain individuals to share the status update or photo with by tapping their name in the selector.
The update also includes an updated design that makes it easier to post and share on iPad. Standard improvements for reliability and speed have been made.
