Facebook Ads Being Removed From Offensive Groups And Pages

Facebook Ads Being Pulled From Questionable Content Pages

Facebook ads will soon no longer show up on pages and groups that offer questionable content.

The social giant on Friday revealed that it will pull ads by the end of the week from pages that showcase “violent, graphic or sexual content.”

While the content in question does not violate Facebook’s community standards practices, it none the less isn’t a good fit for advertisers who are attempting to protect their brands.

In a blog post a representative for Facebook writes:

“We know that marketers work hard to promote their brands, and we take their objectives seriously. While we already have rigorous review and removal policies for content against our terms, we recognize we need to do more to prevent situations where ads are displayed alongside controversial Pages and Groups.”

Facebook is taking the ad pull seriously after more than a dozen large-scale company’s complain about the amount of domestic violence imagery on the social network.

Facebook will begin by manually removing ads from the network’s most offensive pages. In the coming weeks the social network will create an automated process for removing ads from pages and groups that feature questionable content.
