Facebook’s $2 billion acquisition of Oculus VR is having an unforeseen implication for Minecraft players. Just hours after the buyout was announced, Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson took to Twitter where he condemned the move.
In August Notch said he was “VERY excited” for the potential of bringing the Oculus Rift to his popular game. Following the Facebook acquisition of Oculus VR he tweeted:
We were in talks about maybe bringing a version of Minecraft to Oculus. I just cancelled that deal. Facebook creeps me out.

So what creeps Persson out about Facebook? He doesn’t actually give a reason in his Tweet.
The tweet was posted at approximately 5:30pm Central time and Notch has yet to respond to further inquiries. Since being posted the message has received 6,431 retweets and 3,502 favorites.
Minecraft players were quick to chime in on the situation:
.@notch And Minecraft was the main reason I wanted an Oculus Rift. (I don't blame you at all.)

In general Twitter users joked about the tweet and through their full support behind Minecraft’s creator, as they have on many other occasions.
