‘Evil Dead’ TV Show Coming To Starz

The Evil Dead will rise again. Bruce Campbell has signed on to reprise his role as Ash Williams in a new series on the Starz Network.

Campbell said: “I’m really excited to bring this series to the ‘Evil Dead’ fans worldwide — it’s going to be everything they have been clamoring for: serious deadite ass-kicking and plenty of outrageous humor.”

Variety reports that the new ten-episode series, called Ash Vs. Evil Dead, will air sometime next year. Evil Dead director Sam Raimi will return to direct the first episode.

Raimi said: “Evil Dead has always been a blast. Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it.”

Here’s the trailer for the original movie.

The Evil Dead TV Show will find Ash working as a stockboy 30 years after the events of The Evil Dead. The “aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter” will be forced back into action as a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind.

Rob Tapert, who produced the 1981 film, said: “Starz has always been a great creative partner and we are excited to be working with them on this project.”
