Donte Whitner Angry At NFL.com Over Free Agent Ranking

Donte Whitner is not happy about his current free agent ranking

Free agent safety Donte Whitner is upset over being ranked as the number 48 overall available player on NFL.com. And no, it’s not because the number almost matches his former team’s name.

The last three seasons Whitner has been a San Francisco 49er. While working under head coach Jim Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio he has redefined himself as one of the best and hardest hitting safeties in the game.

The analysts at NFL.com agree, but not enough for Whitner’s liking. Not only was he ranked 48 overall, he was ranked behind four other safeties. Louis Delmas, one of those players, was released by the Detroit Lions two weeks ago.

Donte Whitner couldn’t believe the insult, and made sure to let NFL.com know about it:

Of course, the NFL and Whitner have a notably rocky relationship to begin with. While with the 49ers, Whitner tried to change his name to Hitner in retaliation of the league flagging him so much for hard tackles.

What Donte Whitner might be most upset about is NFL.com’s reasoning, “Will all of those bone-jarring hits catch up to Whitner as he enters his ninth season?” He will just have to use the 2014 season to show those analysts just how wrong they are.
