Dollar Shave Club Takes Another Swing At Charity With #DontShaveTheSox

Dollar Shave Club

Dollar Shave Club, that company that makes awesome viral videos and mails you high-quality razors every month for just a few bucks, is taking another swing at charity with their #DontShaveTheSox campaign.

The company is offering to donate $1000 to a Red Sox player’s charity of choice if he braids his beard, hangs a card from it naming the charity, and shares it on Twitter (be sure to mention @dollarshaveclub).

“Dollar Shave Club has no official interest in shaving the facial talismans that brought a world series win to the beautiful, bearded borough of Boston,” said Michael Dubin, Chairman and CEO of Dollar Shave Club. “Dollar Shave Club will even send a braiding technician to their home or location of choice to help.”

I’m not entirely sure how you can get in on this, unless you’re a Red Sox player. I suppose you could be in charge of a charity that needs help. Then you could badger Red Sox player on Twitter until they braid their beards and name your charity.

In any case, this isn’t the first time Dollar Shave Club has tried its hand at charity. In early October, they spearheaded the #CleapSnap campaign in coordination with various NFL centers.

I asked Dubin if #DontShaveTheSox had anything to do with the commonly-observed “No Shave November.”

“We are not. But we are encouraging our members to help us raise money for @Movember. For every friend they get to join, we’ll donate $5 to the @Movember foundation.”

*shrugs* Fair enough!
