It’s been a rough few years for Derrick Rose but the Chicago Bulls point guard is ready to start the next chapter in his career. After two disappointing seasons, Rose returns to the court this week with Team USA.
Rose, who has missed the majority of the last two seasons with knee injuries, will be competing against some of the NBA’s best players this week during Team USA’s training camp in Las Vegas.

Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski said that Rose will have no restrictions during camp.
Coach K said: “No. None at all. Again, he hasn’t played against this competition [in a while]. We have to watch that. But no. He says he’s ready to go.”
Rose will have to earn his spot on this year’s squad and that may be a difficult task. He hasn’t played NBA ball (with the exception of a few games) in two years and even if he’s physically ready his game may be a little rusty this week. Of course, Rose does have a gold medal on his resume and he was the starting point guard for Team USA in 2010.
Coach K said: “He was our starting guard in 2010. I met with him a little bit yesterday. I know he’s excited about being here. Physically, he’s good. It’s just a matter of how quickly you regain the instincts to compete and play at this level.”
Coach K is optimistic about Rose’s return but the Bulls point guard definitely has his critics. Some people feel that Rose shouldn’t risk getting injured again by playing with Team USA before the NBA season. Others say that he doesn’t deserve a spot on the roster this year since he hasn’t played in so long.
What does Rose have to say about this?
