The New Orleans Saints didn’t have time to reveal their decision to trade Darren Sproles, that’s because the free agent learned of his predicament by way of Twitter.
On Tuesday afternoon the team ESPN sent out the following message:
THIS JUST IN: Dallas Cowboys free-agent DL Jason Hatcher is visiting with the Seahawks today.

After reading the tweet Sproles sent out the following message:
WOW! "@ESPNNFL: THIS JUST IN: Saints now plan to trade RB Darren Sproles due to heavy interest. He will not be released.

Sproles then sent out another tweet:
The stuff u find out on twitter

A few days ago Darren Sproles officially said his goodbyes to New Orleans, understanding that his time in the city was drawing to a close. However, Sproles has one year left on his four-year contract, and a trade would make it harder to negotiate for a new multi-year contract.
At 30-years-old the best he could hope for was the ability to secure a better deal before another year has passed and his body has aged further.
