After 10 years on air The Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson is calling it quits.
The TV personality stunned members of his audience on Monday, announcing his departure during a live taping.
During his announcement Ferguson joked?:
“CBS and I are not getting divorced, we are ‘consciously uncoupling,’ but we will still spend holidays together and share custody of the fake horse and robot skeleton, both of whom we love very much.”
Following the announcement Nina Tassler, CBS’ Entertainment Chairperson wished him the best:
“During his 10 years as host, Craig has elevated CBS to new creative and competitive heights at 12:30… He infused the broadcast with tremendous energy, unique comedy, insightful interviews and some of the most heartfelt monologues seen on television.”
We don’t know who will replace him yet, although Chelsea Handler’s name has been throw around a lot lately.
What we do know is that Craig Ferguson is trending on Facebook and fans don’t want him to leave.
A typical Facebook response includes:
“He should have taken over for Letterman, That was a slap in the face to him. Good luck to whatever is next Craig! Funny Guy”
And…
“It was definitely a slap in the face for Ferguson to not get Letterman’s spot. I’m glad for him that he is slapping back. Unfortunately, us, the fans, will be missing out on his cheeky humor and sophomoric wit. Good luck to him wherever the fates take him.”
Will you be sad to see Craig Ferguson leaving the seat he filled for a full decade?
Ferguson’s buddy Keith Olbermann was quick to show his disbelief:
