Congressman Vance McAllister is known for his family values. Well, at least he was until this morning when a video surfaced showing him kissing one of his staffers.
Vance McAllister, who is married, can be seen on thee video passionately kissing a woman on his congressional staff. The woman in the video is reportedly Melissa Anne Hixon Peacock, McAllister’s district scheduler. The woman hasn’t been positively identified yet but one thing is for sure: That is not his wife.
Shortly after the video went viral McAllister released a statement saying: “There’s no doubt I’ve fallen short and I’m asking for forgiveness … I’m asking for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff, and my constituents who elected me to serve. Trust is something I know has to be earned whether your a husband, a father, or a congressman. I promise to do everything I can to earn back the trust of everyone I’ve disappointed.”
Vance McAllister isn’t a well-known politician just yet. In fact, the GOP congressman from Louisiana’s 5th district is best known to many as the guy who brought Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson to the State of the Union.
Other than that, he’s known as a congressman who takes pride in his “family values.” McAllister and his wife Kelly starred in a campaign ad together touting the Louisiana congressman’s moral values.
In the ad, McAllister says: “Here at the McAllister house, we have a big family breakfast every Sunday before church. Kelly does the dishes, and I do the cooking … O.K., O.K., so mostly, I do the eating. But it’s here in this house that Kelly and I worked to instill the values of faith, family, and country in our five children. If you will trust me with your vote, you can count on me to take those values to Washington, to defend our Christian way of life, to protect the unborn, and be back here every Sunday to do the dishes.”
