Comic Sans Typewriter Celebrates World’s Worst Font [Video]

There isn’t a more universally hated font than comic sans, and now, thanks to designer Jesse England, the cringe worthy typeface is available on a typewriter.

Comic Sans may be the butt of many internet jokes but England said that he wasn’t trying to make fun of the font with his new typewriter. England said that of the flak flung at the Comic Sans typeface is undeserved.

England said: “While making it, I thought a lot about the Comic Sans typeface and how ridiculed it is. But it is also a mark of sincerity for those who do not have graphic design experience.  I’m not particularly enamored with this font, but I don’t think it deserves the flak it gets.”

The Verge notes that Comic Sans has been around since 1994 when Microsot designer Vincent Connare set out to create a font that would replace Times New Roman. Comic Sans didn’t become as popular as Microsoft had hoped for but it has been employed by millions of people over the last two decades.

The Wall Street Journal writes: “If you love (Comic Sans), you don’t know much about typography… if you hate it, you really don’t know much about typography, either, and you should get another hobby.”
