Billionaire investor Carl Icahn has lost his bid to stop Michael Dell and Silver Lake Management’s attempts at taking Dell, Inc. private.
As he admitted defeat Carl Icahn used his moment of concession to ask for new Twitter followers. He writes:
“I hope you will choose to follow me on Twitter where from time to time I give my investment insights.”
Icahn continues to maintain that Dell’s offer is 70% below its 10-year-high of $42.38 and therefore a bad offer for investors. He writes:
“We have determined that it would be almost impossible to win the battle on September 12th … We have therefore come to the conclusion that we will not pursue additional efforts to defeat the Michael Dell/Silver Lake proposal, although we still oppose it and will move to seek appraisal rights.”
In August, Dell and Silver Lake raised their offer by $0.10 a share to $13.75 and agreed if the deal moves forward to pay $0.13-per-share dividend by the deal’s closing date. The stock regularly features a $0.08 dividend.
The real news though is that Carl Icahn is pimping out his messages with Twitter follow requests.
