A few days ago, this YouTube video was uploaded by Del Sol Photography telling the story of Janine and her fiancé Johnny. The video has grossed over 100,000 views within 5 days on YouTube.
52 days before their wedding, Johnny passed away, and after Janine dealt with the grief and continued to feel overwhelming emotions, she put on her wedding dress and took touching photos to honor him. Her plan was to jump into the Riviera Maya, Mexico in her wedding dress. She told Del Sol Photography the dress was a reminder of what she lost, rather than a symbol of happiness.
The photographer, Matt Adcock, said he has never been more inspired throughout his 10 year career.
“After I heard Janine’s story, I really wanted to do what I could to create a magical adventure for her. She told me that she felt a strong connection with the element of water, for its cleansing and purifying qualities and the sense of freedom she felt while swimming.”
In a blog post on the photography website, Janine said she felt her fiance smiling down on her during the photo shoot. Janine went on to give advice for others who find themselves in the same kind of situation, “If I could reach out to anyone suffering from a loss, I would tell them this. Listen to YOUR heart! You are the most important person and only YOU can help yourself.”
She continued on giving a wonderful message of hope and how a bride says good-bye: “You are grieving and you need this time to really think about what you are going to do next. You have the right to cry and you have the right to be alone (but not too much alone) If you are close to family or friends lean on them. Also, try something new! When I did this photo shoot I had the best time I actually had fun for the 1st time in 3 month since Johnny passed away.”
