Guitarist Tom Delonge announced on Instagram today that a new Blink-182 album was on its way.
The band released their last album, Neighborhood, back in 2011. Delonge, Travis Barker, and Mark Hoppus have been working on their own individual projects since then but it looks like Blink 182 will be back together fulltime in the near future.
Delonge wrote on Instagram: “Rehearsals start today. And yes there will be a new album. Sorry for the wait.”
The band didn’t give any hints as to when fans should expect the new album but we’re guessing it’s going to be awhile. It sounds like Blink-182 literally just started working on the new album this morning.
The band told MTV last year: “Once we start (an album) it moves … It’s like painting, you know? You’ve just got to start with that first brushstroke, and get your clothes off, and get the other person’s clothes off, get a little bit of feces, smear it around. Just get going.”
OK… Well, the band has a full touring schedule coming up, including the Reading & Leeds festival in the UK, so it may be a few months before Blink-182 can take their clothes off and smear poop around the room.
