Kathy Beitz is legally blind and has been blind since she was a child. She recently gave birth to a beautiful son and thanks to the technology and the computerized device known as eSight, she was able to see her baby boy, or any baby, for the first time in her entire life.
eSight are wearable electronic glasses that allow the legally blind to actually see. Kathy Beitz was given this technology to use for the day so she could capture how precious her son looked on this wonderful day.
“For the first baby that I get to actually look at,” Kathy said, “being my own is very overwhelming.”
Thanks to eSight, Kathy was able to see her husband hold her son which she described as “such a good feeling” in the video.
Kathy’s sister, Yvonne, uploaded the video to YouTube and the touching mother and son moments have gone viral. Kathy suffers from Stargardt disease, an inherited form of juvenile macular degeneration, and lost her vision when she was a child.
Yvonne and Kathy have started a campaign to help others share special moments like this and gain access to eSight full time at MakeBlindessHistory.com.
