Secret is an anonymous social sharping app that’s becoming increasingly popular especially among Silicon Valley and the Tech industry.

The company has officially announce via blogging platform Medium that it has raised $8.6 million in new capital in the form of venture capital firms and angel investors.

Backers of the round include Garry Tan, Alexis Ohanian, MG Siegler, Bing Gordon, Megan Quinn, Chris Howard, Brad Silverberg, Vivo Nevo, SV Angel, Ashton Kutcher, David sSacks, Bill Lee, Pete Cashmore, and Joe Montana, among others.

In the blog, the company says focusing on revenue early for a social network is often detrimental to its natural evolution. The people you work with and trust should believe in you in both the good times and bad, which the company says is more valuable than raising funding at the highest valuation.

Secret wants to create a world ‘flowing with authenticity’ which is more open and brings everyone closer together by building understanding.

The company will use the Series A funding to curate a small, passionate team of artists and builders. They will continue to listen closely to the community and focusing on the work that will help it thrive.

We recently reported that according to insiders the company was raising a $10 million round.
